Lumley Farms: A Western-Style Petting Zoo in Plant City

Hello everyone! I’m Kristopher, and today my wife Rachel, our three kids, and her parents Brian & Cecilia joined me for a day at Lumley Farms in Plant City, Florida. This spot has quickly become one of our favorite family outings, and here’s why.
First Impressions
The weather was a pleasant mid-80s with partly cloudy skies. The farm is decorated in a western town theme, with wooden barn-style walls enclosing the petting zoo. Families can expect animals, playgrounds, shaded seating, and seasonal events.
Animals & Activities
🐴 Animals: Buffalo, donkeys, ponies, sheep, and more
🌾 Activities for Kids: Sandbox, swings, teeter totter, slides (including a new pipe slide)
🐓 Petting Zoo Feeding: Buy grain or carrots for a few dollars to feed animals (caution: ponies/donkeys nibble quickly!)
🍂 Fall Festival Coming Soon! Lumley Farms adds new attractions every season. During fall, they host hayrides, vendor booths, and themed décor. A new gravel track lets kids ride pedal cars, and there’s space for community events with hammocks, lounge seating, and live music.
Food & Refreshments
- Fresh lemonade & sweet tea available for purchase
- Small farmer’s market stand with honey, baked goods, and trinkets
- Shaded picnic-style seating spread across the property
🎉 Families can host birthday parties or events for 40–50 people in the shaded event space. Pricing is still being finalized, but past visitors have rented bounce houses and used the farm’s animal access for kids’ parties.
Atmosphere & Accessibility
Light crowds during weekdays, moderate on weekends. Friendly staff and clean facilities (hand-washing stations, trash cans, etc.). Safe layout with animals behind fences, Longhorns kept separate. Quiet areas available for kids sensitive to noise.
